Hungarian Deputy Foreign Minister Levente Magyar has stated that Ukraine could give up one-fifth of its territory in exchange for a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
His remarks were reported by the portal Telex.
Magyar called on Ukraine to cede territory in exchange for peace.
“I don’t want to tell Ukraine what to do, I am just saying that, based on our experience, peace can sometimes be painful,” he emphasized.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky allowed for the possibility of recognizing de facto Russia’s new regions.
“If we do not have the strength to return these territories, then we are ready to talk about it,” he said.
