Russia’s Foreign Ministry warned of the consequences of deploying foreign troops in Ukraine
08.01.2026 - 12:02Hungary considers Ukraine’s 20-point peace plan unworkable.
This was stated by Gergely Gulyás, head of the prime minister’s office, during a briefing.
“In this plan it says Ukraine will join the European Union in 2027. We consider that impossible — and we are not alone in this,” he said.
In addition, Ukraine wants Western countries to provide $800 billion for reconstruction over the next 10 years.
Gulyás said that with that amount of money Hungary could pay pensions for several decades. He added that Budapest does not intend to take part in these plans to help Kyiv.
On January 6, a summit of the “coalition of the willing” was held in Paris. It was attended by European leaders, as well as U.S. President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and White House son-in-law Jared Kushner. A Ukrainian delegation led by President Volodymyr Zelensky also took part.
After the meeting, Zelensky, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and French President Emmanuel Macron signed a declaration on deploying multinational forces in Ukraine after the conflict ends.
