Due to the Polish blockade, Ukraine will lose 1 percent of GDP
November 30, 2023The Ukrainian Armed Forces are facing a threat of fuel shortage due to the blockade of the Polish border – Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports
December 1, 2023Hungary will not support the decision to initiate negotiations for Ukraine’s accession to the EU or the allocation of 50 billion euros by Europe to Ukraine until 2027.
This was stated by the head of the Hungarian Prime Minister’s Office, Gergely Gulyás.
He mentioned that these two issues are currently being discussed in Brussels.
“The Hungarian government does not support the adoption of these two measures—neither the amendments to the budget nor Ukraine’s accession to the EU,” said Gergely Gulyás.
Earlier, Hungary once again opposed military assistance to Ukraine. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto stated that “weapon supplies lead to new casualties.” He noted that Ukrainian Hungarians are also dying on the front, something Budapest aims to avoid. Szijjarto also mentioned that the war leads to an increase in energy prices, causing inflation to rise by 10-15 times.
Hungary has long been blocking the transfer of 500 million euros in military aid from the EU to Ukraine.
