Hungary’s foreign minister Szijjártó accused Zelensky of lying for denying an official visit by a Hungarian delegation to Ukraine
12.03.2026 - 05:03Hungary’s National Assembly (parliament) has adopted a resolution calling for Ukraine not to be financed and for efforts to block its accession to the European Union.
This was announced on Tuesday by Hungarian government spokesperson Zoltán Kovács on X.
“The Hungarian National Assembly approved a resolution against Ukraine joining the EU, against further financing of the war, and against efforts to turn the EU into a military-political alliance,” Kovács said.
A total of 142 MPs supported the resolution, 28 voted against it, and 4 abstained.
According to the resolution, Ukraine should not be admitted to the EU because “the country is at war and its accession would expose the EU to the risk of direct involvement in an armed conflict.” The resolution also states that Ukraine’s EU membership would significantly increase the burden on the EU budget.
The resolution also calls for not sending money or weapons to Ukraine.
