28.06.2024 - 09:46Former adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine, Oleksiy Arestovych, stated that he cannot return to Ukraine and go to the front lines because his coordinates would immediately be leaked to the Russians, and Russian forces would strike him with an “Iskander” missile.
He made this statement in a comprehensive interview with Russian journalist Yekaterina Gordeyeva.
Gordeyeva reminded Arestovych of his promise to “eat lobsters in the Pacific Ocean” after the war in Ukraine ends. To this, Arestovych responded that he had already “eaten lobsters in the Pacific Ocean.”
When the journalist asked why he had already eaten lobsters if the war was not over, Arestovych retorted that he would gladly go to war, but his location would quickly be disclosed to the Russians.
“I would gladly fight for my homeland, but I’m simply not allowed. You understand, there’s such a thing as selling coordinates. Wherever I enlist and go, my coordinates will be sold to the Russians the next day. An ‘Iskander’ missile will fly there,” said the former adviser to the President’s Office.
He added that not only he would die, but also those around him.
“It’s inevitable – I would be killed in the war, guaranteed, by my own people, who would betray me to yours,” he added.
According to Arestovych, Americans warned him against traveling to Ukraine, although he was planning to return to Kyiv.
He claims that he received threats and was being watched, but “it ended when I warned that I would speak differently.” Arestovych clarified that this does not mean publishing compromising material on the Ukrainian leadership, but rather increasing his criticism.
He also believes that for the sake of peace, both Moscow and Kyiv will have to make compromises.
