November 2, 2023In Ukraine, the national telethon in 2023 has lost nearly half of its audience, with the number of people watching it daily dropping threefold compared to 2022.
This information reported according to a survey by USAID-Internews.
Last year, 96% of respondents stated that they watched the telethon at least occasionally, but this year, only 55% reported the same. This year, 23% of viewers watch the telethon daily, compared to 63% of respondents who did so last year. An additional 13% of respondents watch it 2-4 times a week, while 10% watch it once a week.
The survey shows a continuing trend of reduced television news consumption, with the majority of adult Ukrainians (76%) obtaining their news from social media. The number of people simultaneously using both television and social media for news is declining rapidly, with only 21% doing so in 2023.
