01.05.2025 10:28In April, Russian forces captured 175 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory — more than in March, when they seized 133 square kilometers.
These figures were reported by the Ukrainian military analysis channel Deep State.
It’s important to note that this estimate does not include Russian territorial gains in the Kursk region, where, according to Deep State maps, Ukraine lost more than 50 square kilometers in April alone.
This brings Russia’s total territorial advance in April to approximately 225 square kilometers, nearly double the figure from April 2024 — a period when there were no active hostilities on the Russian side of the border in the Kursk region.
Excluding the Kursk area, about 85% of Russia’s advances occurred in Donetsk Oblast. The most significant territorial gains were made along the front between Toretsk and Pokrovsk (near Sukhaya Balka and Kalynove), as well as near the settlements of Konstantynopil and Razliv, west of Kurakhove.
To compare: in March: 133 sq. km captured (59 sq. km less than in February). In February: 192 sq. km. In January: 325 sq. km.
