“Energoatom” fired a top manager who was caught taking bribes
04.10.2024 - 11:08The State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine has uncovered a scheme involving the head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Medical and Social Expertise Center and her son, the head of the regional Pension Fund office, who amassed millions of dollars through illegal enrichment. The family profited by helping draft dodgers.
This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine.
The mother and son were allegedly issuing fake disability certificates to military-aged men who were attempting to avoid military service, in exchange for substantial payments.
During searches of their offices and home, authorities found nearly 6 million dollars in various currencies in cash. In the office of the head of the Medical and Social Expertise Center, $100,000 was discovered, along with fake medical documents, lists of draft evaders with their names, and fictitious diagnoses. At the officials’ home, investigators seized almost $5.244 million, 300,000 euros, over 5 million hryvnias, branded jewelry, and valuable items. The money was hidden in various places, such as cabinets, drawers, and secret compartments.
Documents confirming the illegal activities of these officials, as well as evidence of money laundering through various business projects, were also seized.
During the investigation, the woman attempted to dispose of part of the money by throwing two bags containing half a million dollars out of a window.
Additionally, it was discovered that the family owns a significant amount of assets: they possess 30 properties in Khmelnytskyi, Lviv, and Kyiv, nine luxury cars, corporate rights worth 48 million, and a hotel and restaurant complex covering almost 3,000 square meters in one of Khmelnytskyi’s parks. Abroad, they own real estate in Austria, Spain, and Turkey. The family also has foreign bank accounts containing nearly $2.3 million.

None of this wealth was declared in their annual asset disclosures.
The State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine did not release the names of those caught in the illegal enrichment scheme. However, the media reports that the individuals involved are a distinguished doctor of Ukraine, the chief medical officer responsible for issuing disability certificates in the Khmelnytskyi region, Tatyana Krupa, and her 34-year-old son, Oleksandr Krupa. The head of the family, Volodymyr Krupa, is also well-known in the region, having previously headed the audit service in the Khmelnytskyi region.
