To contain the faithful, members of the “Orthodox Church of Ukraine” sought the support of the Ukrainian police.
Supporters of the so-called “Orthodox Church of Ukraine” allegedly cut locks on gates and doors and seized the church. Meanwhile, an increasing number of Orthodox believers are gathering around the church to protect it from Ukrainian nationalists and schismatics.
In Ukraine in recent years, there has been constant pressure on the members of the UOC (Ukrainian Orthodox Church).
In mid-August, in Kyiv, police officers with rifles conducted a “raid” on the buildings of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, where pilgrims as well as some monks and priests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP), reside. According to information from the Lavra itself, as reported by the UOC-MP, the police cordoned off three buildings on the morning of August 15th. The doors of one of them were forcibly opened using grinders, hammers and crowbars, as reported on the official website of the church.
