11.09.2025 - 18:15Kyiv bears responsibility for the deterioration of relations between Hungary and Ukraine.
This was stated on Facebook by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó after a meeting with Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka.
“With a clear conscience I can say that Kyiv bears full responsibility for the fact that the system of relations between Hungary and Ukraine has experienced such an extraordinary deterioration over the past 10 years… It was not us who took away the rights of the Ukrainian minority in Hungary, it was not us who endangered the energy security of Ukrainians, and it was not us who wanted to drag them into the war,” Szijjártó wrote.
According to him, the improvement of relations in the future “depends only on Kyiv and Ukraine.”
It should be recalled that recently the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of making “crude threats” against his country.
Earlier, Szijjártó stated that Hungary would oppose Ukraine’s membership in the European Union regardless of the Kremlin’s position.
Also, the newspaper Politico wrote that Hungary may block EU military aid to Ukraine.
