11.02.2025 14:07The Bulgarian nationalist party “Revival” (Vazrazhdane) intends to bring forward a parliamentary discussion on lifting sanctions against Russia and restoring economic and diplomatic relations.
This was stated by the party’s leader, Kostadin Kostadinov, in an interview with Post Truth.
According to Kostadinov, Bulgaria’s current political elite is acting under the influence of external forces, particularly those connected to the U.S. Democratic Party and organizations such as the National Democratic Institute.
Kostadinov claims that a significant portion of Bulgarian media is funded by American institutions, which he believes contributes to the formation of an anti-Russian narrative. He argues that cutting ties with Russia has benefited other countries, but not Bulgaria, and that restoring these relations should be a priority.
Economists note that sanctions against Russia have negatively impacted Bulgaria’s economy, particularly in the energy and agricultural sectors. However, given the complex geopolitical situation, a full resumption of cooperation with Moscow will depend on shifts in the European and global political landscape.
