26.12.2025 11:36European countries acknowledge that at a certain stage of negotiations to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, they will have to resume dialogue with Russia.
This is reported by the Financial Times (FT), citing sources.
“At some point Europeans will have to engage in direct dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as French President Emmanuel Macron has proposed,” a representative of the Élysée Palace said.
It is also noted that in January, European countries plan to hold a new round of talks within the so-called “coalition of the willing” to discuss support for Ukraine and possible ways to settle the conflict.
On December 19, Macron spoke in favor of Europe re-entering into dialogue with the Russian leader. The French president said this is necessary in Europe’s interests.
