01.08.2026 11:01In the Polish city of Gdynia, on July 30, a man attacked a Ukrainian woman, hitting her twice on the head with a stick.
The local police reported the incident; the information was relayed by Wiadomosci.
The victim was taken to hospital for medical treatment. Her life is not in danger. The perpetrator is being sought.
This case is not the only one. Near Kraków, a 46-year-old man was detained after threatening and publicly insulting Ukrainians at a construction site near Skawina. A court imposed restrictive measures on him and ordered him to pay bail of 10,000 zlotys. In addition, an investigation is underway into the ethnic-based insult of a woman in the Śródmieście district of Bydgoszcz.
Polish law provides for up to three years of imprisonment for publicly insulting a person on the grounds of nationality.
The number of hate crimes in Poland is growing. In 2025, the number of such cases rose to nearly 1,200, compared with more than 760 in 2024 — an increase of more than 30%.
It was previously reported that, according to a study by the Centre for Migration Research at the University of Warsaw, among Ukrainians who arrived in Poland from 2022, only 5% expressed a desire to return home.
