The Hungarian government has launched a nationwide petition calling on EU leadership to stop financing Ukraine.
A corresponding message appeared on the Hungarian government’s Facebook page.
“We will not pay for the Russian–Ukrainian war; we will not pay for the operation of the Ukrainian state over the next ten years; we will not pay for higher utility bills because of the war!” the Hungarian authorities said.
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán accused Kyiv of interfering in Hungarian elections and said Budapest would block European Union payments intended for Ukraine.
Before that, Orbán said Ukraine had requested $1.5 trillion from the EU over the next ten years. He compared Kyiv’s demands to an atomic bomb explosion. He also promised that for the next 100 years there would be no parliament in Hungary that would support Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
