28.03.2026 15:30In Kharkiv, at least 30 women ended up being wanted as “draft evaders.”
This is being reported by the media.
Earlier, there had been information that this affected only seven women.
As previously reported, they were mistakenly entered into the databases of the Territorial Centers for Recruitment and Social Support as persons liable for military service.
The women learned that they were being sought by the recruitment centers either from local police officers or by chance through the Reserve+ app.
For example, psychologist Agata Zakharyan found out from a local police officer: she had been listed as a nurse. When she went to clarify the situation, she was removed from the wanted list, but not from military registration. The response from the recruitment center shocked Agata: according to the military officials, the law contains no provision for removal from the register because of an enlistment office’s mistake.
Among those affected is mathematician Halyna Tsekhmistro. She received a call from a police major.
“I thought it was some kind of scam. It turned out I was wanted. I sent my mathematics diploma to prove that I’m not a medic. They replied: ‘We believe you, but we still won’t remove you from the register. Go to court,’” she said.
At the same time, most of the cases are linked to the Shevchenkivskyi Territorial Recruitment Center in Kharkiv. The agency acknowledges that there were no grounds for putting the women on the wanted list.
“At this stage, it has been established that there were no legal grounds for searching for these women. This is being corrected. We are reviewing complaints and will remove them from the register. We are correcting mistakes,” said Oleksii Shapka, deputy head of the regional recruitment center.
Journalists noted that these women are now unable to travel abroad, face blocked administrative services, and live under constant stress because of the threat of their bank accounts being frozen.
Earlier, media reported that educational institutions in Ukraine had been required to submit lists of their female medical graduates to the recruitment centers.
