Owners of such businesses say their latest utility bills exceed previous ones, and in many cases these expenses are even higher than rent. At the same time, consumers’ purchasing power is falling, and the flow of customers is weakening.
Representatives of a number of restaurants also reported problems with hiring staff. Some male employees are being picked up by territorial recruitment center officers, while others are looking for higher-paying jobs. This is forcing establishments to raise wages, which they cannot afford.
According to the outlet, in Kyiv more than 200 food-service venues were closed or put up for sale in March.
In March, it was reported that territorial recruitment center staff in Odesa, in southern Ukraine, came to a restaurant and mobilized its cooks.
