In Kyiv official suspected of overpricing in procurement of vegetable slicers for bomb shelters

The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office has announced suspicion of a official from the Dniprovsky District Administration of the capital in connection with a high-profile purchase of vegetable slicers at a cost of 132 thousand hryvnias per unit.

This information was reported by the department on its official website.

The actions of the suspect are classified under Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – embezzlement of another’s property through abuse of official position, committed under conditions of martial law.

“The suspect is an authorized person responsible for organizing and conducting procurement procedures and disclosing reports on contracts concluded without the use of an electronic procurement system in the Education Department of the Dniprovsky District in Kyiv State Administration. Abusing her official position and acting against the interests of the service, the official misappropriated budget funds during the procurement procedure for ‘Catering Equipment’ (sets of equipment for food processing in shelters, vegetable slicers with sets of attachments). The cost of the acquired goods turned out to be inflated by almost 300 thousand hryvnias, causing damage to the Education Department of the Dniprovsky District in Kyiv State Administration in the specified amount,” the post states.

Currently, the issue of applying preventive measures to the suspect is being resolved. Pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
