Duda criticized Ukraine and its allies and threatened to close the Rzeszów airbase used for delivering military aid
10.07.2025 - 09:32Scandal-prone journalist Bohdan Butkevych has been mobilized in Kyiv.
This information reported according to a statement made by his wife Marina on her Facebook page.
She claimed that Butkevych had been informally working with Ukraine’s military intelligence (GUR) for several years, carrying out missions on enemy territory.
“In recent years, he carried out off-the-books projects for the GUR behind enemy lines — and did so quite successfully. Perhaps this project is now over, but I know he gave it his all,” she wrote.
Marina also noted that Butkevych suffers from serious eye problems, making him medically unfit for regular army service. However, their situation changed after he publicly criticized MP Maryana Bezuhla, which allegedly led to the termination of his cooperation with GUR and his listing as wanted by the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC).
“He went to our local TRC to clarify his status. That’s when they took him to the DVRZ draft station. Now they’re even planning to send him to the Desna training center,” she added.
She believes this was done on orders from the Presidential Office due to Butkevych’s past criticism of Andriy Yermak, head of the President’s Office.
It’s worth noting that Butkevych previously defended TRCs and harshly criticized draft dodgers:
“Now listen up, all you scumbags telling me bad things about TRCs: can TRC officers do crazy stuff? Of course! As much as they want!” he said in one of his broadcasts.
He claimed that a “normal, adequate man” should have gone to a TRC and passed medical checks back in 2022, while also saying it’s right to “punish military recruiters” for abuse of power.
Butkevych is also known for his infamous 2019 remarks during debates about the reintegration of Donbas, in which he called local residents “unnecessary people”, estimating 1.5 million “excess” Ukrainians in the region.
