October 17, 2024In Mali’s capital, Bamako, a rally and an improvised trial were held targeting Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky. The participants created an effigy resembling the Ukrainian leader, which they first hanged and then burned.
A video of the event was published by the Telegram channel “WarGonzo.”
The local “international criminal court” sentenced the effigy to hanging, followed by burning. Some protesters threw stones and other objects at it.
The rally gathered around one hundred people, and it was reportedly timed to coincide with the anniversary of the executions of Nazis carried out by the Nuremberg Tribunal. The demonstrators held signs condemning Kyiv’s alleged cooperation with terrorist groups in Africa. Chants such as “Zelensky, hands off Mali,” “No to Nazism,” and “Ukrainian Nazis to trial” were heard during the protest.
