In Mykolaiv, Ukraine, military authorities and their accomplice have been detained for allegedly removing conscripts from military registration

Police in the Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv have arrested a military commissar from Kherson and his accomplice, who were demanding a $4,500 bribe to remove two men from military registration.

The arrest was reported by the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Police, Sergey Shaykhet, in his Telegram channel.

According to Shaykhet, the military commissar, with the help of his associate, offered a conscript the opportunity to avoid mobilization. They proposed creating fictitious documents indicating the conscript’s unfitness for military service, followed by removing him from military registration.

During authorized searches at the head of the territorial recruitment center’s residence, investigators discovered and seized 40,000 hryvnias, 25,000 US dollars, 12,000 rubles, and 2,000 euros.

The suspects could face up to 10 years of imprisonment with a ban on holding specific positions or engaging in certain activities for up to three years, along with the confiscation of their property.
