In Nizhyn, a senior officer from the local district police department fatally hit a soldier with a service vehicle.

This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, this morning, the police officer was driving a service car towards an intersection in the city center when “a man suddenly ran onto the roadway.”

“It was impossible to avoid the collision, and the soldier died at the scene from his injuries,” the report states.

The State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine claims that, according to preliminary data, the police officer was sober.

Earlier, Ruslan Lyashenko, the head of the Public Prosecution Support Department of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, hit a National Guard soldier with his car as he was crossing the road.

It was also reported that in the Khmelnytskyi region, an Opel car fatally hit a 45-year-old soldier at a pedestrian crossing. Another soldier, the same age as the deceased, and a 31-year-old policewoman were injured in the accident. The driver who ran over the pedestrians was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
