July 29, 2024Arson attacks on military vehicles continue in Ukraine. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the police have detained six food delivery couriers in Odesa who were setting military vehicles on fire. Over two weeks, they attempted to destroy more than 15 SUVs.
This was reported by the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine.
All the detainees turned out to be couriers for a popular food delivery service, aged 18 to 24.
It is claimed that they found the “job” of destroying cars through a Telegram channel that offers quick money-making opportunities.
The arsonists primarily acted in pairs—one set the fire, while the other recorded it on video. Operating under the cover of courier delivery, the young men rode scooters around the city, locating the parking addresses of military vehicles.
Homemade incendiary mixtures were seized from the detainees. They now face up to 8 years in prison under the charge of “obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations.”
It should be noted that there has been an increase in cases of arson attacks on the vehicles of military personnel and employees of territorial recruitment centers in Ukraine recently.
