In Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, all banks will close starting Monday, September 2, with only ATMs remaining operational.

This was announced by the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin.

A standard ATM cash replenishment is designed to last for three days under normal conditions. However, with increased demand for cash, all the money could be withdrawn within a day or a day and a half. It is unlikely that bank cash-in-transit services will risk traveling and replenishing ATMs with hryvnias close to the front line.

According to Filashkin, there are 38,000 people and about 1,900 children remaining in the city, which is about 10 km from the front line. They have been ordered to evacuate.

Yesterday, the curfew in Pokrovsk was extended from 3:00 PM to 11:00 AM the next morning. This essentially means that the city is transitioning to a frontline status. Ten days earlier, the curfew in Myrnohrad and Selydove was sharply intensified.

Additionally, President Volodymyr Zelensky mentioned the defense of Pokrovsk for the first time, although he had previously only referred to the Pokrovsk direction in general.

“There was a report from Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi regarding the operational situation, particularly the defense of Pokrovsk,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
