March 1, 2024‘There is a risk of escalation”: a German journalist believes that Macron’s idea of sending troops has harmed Ukraine
March 2, 2024The conditions for Ukrainians staying in Poland may tighten, as the Polish Cabinet of Ministers is working on new rules.
The government has extended the stay of Ukrainian refugees until June 30, and until the end of this period, the previous conditions and privileges will remain in effect. However, officials want to change the privileges for Ukrainians for the next period.
Among other things, it is proposed to:
- Cancel temporary protection for trips to Ukraine: in this case, the state will record that the refugee no longer considers staying in their homeland dangerous. Currently, Ukrainians can travel to Ukraine for 30 days.
- Cancel the allowance of 300 zlotys for newcomers.
- More carefully check people with debts for payments; many refugees do not cover half of the expenses for accommodation and meals in accommodation centers.
Recall that the European Union has extended protection measures for Ukrainian refugees until March 2025. The EU reminded that under temporary protection measures, all refugees from Ukraine have the right to work in the European Union and receive housing, medical care, social benefits, and access to education for children.
