29.09.2025 12:31Hungary has blocked 12 Ukrainian news portals in response to similar actions taken by Kyiv.
This was announced on Facebook by Gergely Gulyás, head of the Hungarian prime minister’s office.
According to him, Kyiv blocked several Hungarian media outlets “because they dared to criticize sanctions policy against Russia, the armed support of Ukraine,” and because they portrayed the European Union and NATO “as fragmented and not particularly effective organizations.” But the real offense of the banned outlets, Gulyás argued, was that they wrote about the influential activities of the Soros Foundation.
“Following the principle of relativity, Hungary today is introducing mirror measures against Ukrainian news portals, so they will no longer be accessible in Hungary. I don’t think many people read Ukrainska Pravda or would want to. However, a sovereign country must give a proportional response to a completely unjustified attack,” the official wrote.
Among the Ukrainian outlets now blocked in Hungary are TSN, Obozrevatel, Ukrainska Pravda, NV, Hromadske, and Levyi Bereh.
Gulyás added that Ukraine’s accession to the EU would only deepen divisions within the community.
As a reminder, Hungary is blocking the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU, and Brussels cannot bypass its veto.
