05.04.2026 13:41In Rivne, a serviceman threatened to blow up police officers with two grenades. During a document check, the 43-year-old resident of the settlement of Orzhiv pulled the pin from a grenade and began threatening an explosion.
This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Rivne Region on its website.
According to police, the incident occurred yesterday at about 8:30 p.m. on Soborna Street.
“The leadership of the Main Directorate of the National Police and the district police department, an investigative-operational group, bomb disposal specialists, special units of the Rapid Response Police Regiment and KORD, as well as patrol police, immediately arrived at the scene,” the police said.
Negotiations with the man lasted more than three hours, after which he was detained.
It turned out that he was in the status of unauthorized absence from his unit (AWOL).
According to police, one munition ended up in the river, while the second was neutralized and seized. Both will be sent for examination. No one was injured.
Investigative actions are continuing within the framework of the opened criminal proceedings.
