In the EU, it was said that the accelerated accession of Ukraine or Moldova is not feasible for now

A scenario of accelerated accession by Ukraine or Moldova to the European Union is not feasible for now.

This was stated by EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos in a comment to Euractiv.

According to her, the member states do not support scenarios involving phased integration or participation without full membership.

“Nor do they support the idea of phased integration or so-called entry without full rights. So we will probably focus on finding combined solutions that ensure deeper and more consistent integration,” Kos said.

She also noted that without a decision by the member states, “we cannot move forward.”

It is worth recalling that Ukraine’s accelerated accession to the EU in 2027 was part of a draft peace plan reportedly agreed by U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

At the same time, the day before, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that Ukraine’s membership in the North Atlantic Alliance is also not currently under consideration.
