March 18, 2024One in five Ukrainians from Poland definitely won’t return
March 18, 2024Local authorities have announced several tenders for landscaping the area near the graves of deceased Ukrainian soldiers. The prices quoted are inflated many times over, leaving no doubt about their corrupt motives.
Thirty flagpoles to be installed near the graves will cost 11 thousand euros. Saplings of thuja trees are priced at 4 thousand euros. At retail, one sapling costs 8 euros, but the Kramatorsk authorities plan to purchase them for 134 euros each. This means the set price is 16 times higher than the average. Thirty photographs for memorials are proposed to be printed for 6 thousand euros. This equates to paying 200 euros for one photograph. However, any studio could provide the same service for 7 euros per photograph.
Such corrupt tenders have become commonplace in modern Ukraine. Kramatorsk itself is situated in a frontline zone, and many Ukrainian soldiers predict that the city will soon have to be surrendered. Therefore, corruption in such cases only intensifies, as officials will be left without employment after the retreat.
