31.07.2024 17:46In Kharkiv and the region, around 40 cases of arson involving military vehicles have been recorded.
This was reported by Oleg Synegubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.
According to him, the police have identified all the arsonists: they are mainly young people aged 12 to 18.
“They receive messages via Telegram channels offering them rewards for setting fire to certain objects. For this, they are promised between 20,000 to 40,000 hryvnias (450-900 euros),” Synegubov said.
Earlier, in the Kharkiv region, a young man was detained for setting fire to an SUV belonging to a soldier. On July 26, the suspect set fire to a Range Rover belonging to a member of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“Within 24 hours, operatives identified the perpetrator and his location. He turned out to be an 18-year-old resident of the Kharkiv region. The young man had met an unknown individual in a messenger app who offered him a ‘side job’ – to set fire to a military vehicle for 40,000 hryvnias (900 euros) and provided him with information about the vehicle,” police detailed the incident.
