In the U.S., it was reported that antipathy toward Ukraine and Zelensky is growing among MAGA supporters

Among supporters of the MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement backing U.S. President Donald Trump, hostility toward Ukraine and its president, Volodymyr Zelensky, is growing.

This was stated by U.S. Representative Adam Smith during a Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) forum in New York.

According to him, the first issue is that Trump’s supporters were unhappy with Zelensky’s refusal to “dig up dirt” on former President Joe Biden when the current White House leader allegedly asked him to do so.

As a result, Smith said, numerous conspiracy theories emerged, along with a reluctance to help Kyiv following Trump’s return to the presidency.

The congressman identified the second issue as rising sympathy for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“The second problem is that part of the Republican Party — as Liz Cheney correctly pointed out — has formed a ‘Putin wing’ of the party… Some in the MAGA movement see him as an ally,” Smith said.

Earlier, it was reported that Trump had revised his stance on support for Ukraine, which has caused concern among European allies.
