The Russian army has fully captured the “pocket” in the area of Bohatyr and Alekseyevka in Donetsk region
15.08.2025 - 08:01Former assistant to the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense Stephen Bryen has called on Europe to stop supporting Ukraine.
He made this statement in an article on the Substack platform.
In his opinion, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will not change course and will attempt to undermine negotiations between Russia and the United States, which could negatively affect Kyiv’s allies.
“Europe needs to reconsider its support for Ukraine under Zelensky’s leadership. It is digging a deep hole for its future,” the former Pentagon official emphasized.
He added that European leaders will be left only to watch as Russia and the United States establish dialogue, due to their radical stance similar to Kyiv’s. Any attempts to derail a peace settlement could be seen by Washington as a threat to national security, Bryen added.
Earlier, Bryen said that the Ukrainian conflict is more likely to end following the Georgian scenario. He explained that such a scenario would exclude the presence of foreign troops and the provision of security guarantees, including financial ones. It would likely include an aid package for the country’s reconstruction — but without the confiscation of frozen Russian assets.
