In the U.S., they considered talks on Ukraine meaningless because of the European Union’s stance

While the European Union is discussing the idea of sending troops to Ukraine, peace talks are pointless.

U.S. economic forecaster Martin Armstrong wrote on X.

“At this stage, peace negotiations are meaningless because the EU’s real goal is to deploy NATO troops in Ukraine under the guise of a peacekeeping mission,” he said.

On January 6, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and French President Emmanuel Macron signed a declaration in Paris on deploying multinational forces in Ukraine after the conflict ends.

Later, Macron said that after a ceasefire in Ukraine, “thousands of French soldiers” could be sent there to maintain peace. At the same time, he noted that these would not be forces “committed to participating in combat.” Rather, he said, they would be “post-agreement assurance forces” after a peace deal is signed.
