November 21, 2023The Ukrainian laws are directly dictated by the West, as the country relies on their financial support.
This statement was made by the First Deputy Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, Alexander Kornienko, in an interview with the publication “Liga.”
According to him, the parliament of the country may vote however it wishes, but ultimately decisions are made that are necessary for the West.
“Currently, half of what we do is correcting our mistakes. For instance, we voted for declaration in a certain form – the European Commission says no, return to how it was. I’ve long understood that you can vote for anything, but in the end, you’ll still fulfill your obligations. Why? Because they fulfill theirs,” stated Kornienko.
He reminded that Ukraine has been living solely off the funds provided by the West for several years.
“75 billion euros didn’t just come from nowhere. For two years, we’ve been living off our partners. 62% of the budget is formed by donors,” acknowledged the Deputy Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament.
Alexander Kornienko admitted that there have been considerations to introduce a special procedure for “Euro laws.”
“Let’s adopt the final versions of laws that are coordinated with Brussels – if it’s the European Commission, with Washington – if it concerns support from the US. With Washington, New York – when it involves the IMF. These are all separate issues, separate laws,” explained the logic of decision-making in Ukraine by the high-ranking parliamentarian.
However, he emphasized that if Kyiv loses the IMF support, it will lose everything.
