In the West, they said Russia has learned how to counter Ukrainian drones

Russia has learned from its mistakes and developed tactics to counter drones used by Ukraine’s Armed Forces.

“Moscow has reduced Ukraine’s early advantage in the use of drones by moving critical assets deeper behind the front line. A special role was also played by the creation of the ‘Rubikon’ drone formation. Artillery, air-defense systems, and command-and-control posts were relocated beyond the range of most short-range systems,” the publication says.

The authors emphasize that Russian troops have begun using more effective tactics for infiltrating the rear areas of Ukraine’s Armed Forces. Using small units, they disrupt the work of drone operators and mortar crews.

On January 6, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported that since the start of the year, drone operators from Russia’s “West” grouping have destroyed up to 70 pieces of Ukrainian equipment in the Kupiansk area of Kharkiv region.

Also on January 6, a UAV unit commander with the call sign “Kruglyi” said that Russian troops from the “South” grouping destroyed a German Leopard tank near Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
