For the first time in Ukraine, a combined heart and lung transplant has been successfully performed.
Dr. Todurov announced, “The first heart-lung transplant in Ukraine is done! The patient is stable. I want to thank everyone who participated in this challenging operation.”
The recipient of these organs is Nina, a 38-year-old individual from the Kiev region who had a congenital heart defect that affected the function of her lungs. The organs for the transplant were donated by an 18-year-old young man who tragically lost his life in a traffic accident.
The surgery took place in Lviv, marking a significant medical milestone for Ukraine.
