Damage nearing €40 million: in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, an official organized the extraction and sale of mineral water without permits
12.01.2026 - 14:00Security specialists from Naftogaz of Ukraine and Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine (LLC) uncovered a large-scale gas theft scheme involving a gas-filling compressor station in Sumy.
This was reported by the press service of “Gasmerezhi” (“Gas Networks”).
An analysis of data revealed a significant discrepancy between the declared and the actual volumes of gas consumed. It was also found that the company had illegally expanded its operations into Vinnytsia region.
After “Gas Networks” filed reports, law enforcement opened a criminal case. During investigative actions at the Sumy facility, investigators detected unauthorized interference with the gas meter; in Vinnytsia, they found what is believed to be a location of an illegal tap into the gas distribution network.
Following inspections of the stations in Sumy and Vinnytsia, violation reports were drawn up. Based on these, those responsible were assessed 56.6 million UAH (about €1.13 million) in penalties for gas theft.
In total, 25 searches were carried out, evidence of the alleged illegal activity was seized, and one official in Vinnytsia region has already been formally notified of suspicion.
