December 11, 2023Three government leaders are set to address significant alterations in aid and housing benefits for Ukrainian refugees in the country. Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has proposed the need to regulate the influx of refugees, citing challenges in accommodating them adequately, Irish examiner reported.
A committee meeting is scheduled to convene next Monday to consider slashing the weekly financial aid from €220 to €38.80 for Ukrainian refugees. Another aspect to be deliberated is the potential restriction of state-provided accommodation for Ukrainian war refugees to a duration of 90 days.
Deliberations on these propositions have faced delays over the past few weeks. A proposal is anticipated to align financial support for Ukrainian refugees more closely with the aid provided to asylum seekers in direct provision centers.
