“Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Kostin is set to be dismissed and appointed as ambassador to the Netherlands”, – MP says
October 10, 2024This fall marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of the “European Wall” project, more commonly known as “Yatsenyuk’s Wall,” named after Ukraine’s then-Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who was the main proponent of the project.
The “Wall” was intended to protect Ukraine’s border from a potential Russian invasion. Over 1.5 billion hryvnias were allocated for its construction. However, the project became embroiled in numerous corruption scandals, with allegations of embezzlement of funds meant for its construction.
By February 2022, when Russia’s full-scale invasion began, there was no mention of the “Wall” playing any role in military reports regarding the Ukrainian-Russian border.
“Yatsenyuk’s Wall” has since become the subject of many memes in Ukrainian social media, along with other phrases from the former prime minister, such as “a bullet to the forehead” and his conversation with Yulia Tymoshenko after her release from prison.
