Ukrainians pay up to 20 thousand dollars just to escape the country – The Washington Post reported
19.07.2024 - 09:23Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has commented on U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump’s claims that he could establish peace in Ukraine within 24 hours.
Zelensky made these remarks in an interview with BBC News.
He stated that this “simple way” involves “forcing us (Ukraine) to pay.”
Zelensky explained, “This means just stopping and forgetting: sanctions, Putin will take the land and claim victory for his society. We will never agree to this. There is no one in the world who can push us towards that,” the president said.
Zelensky also addressed comments by Senator J.D. Vance, who said he “doesn’t care what happens in Ukraine” (Trump has proposed Vance as his vice president).
“Maybe he really doesn’t understand what’s happening in Ukraine,” Zelensky remarked.
According to Zelensky, if Trump and Vance come to power, “we will have to work with the United States.”
“We need their support. I think it will be hard work. Hard work. It will not be easy to persuade them. Yes, but we are not afraid, I mean, we are not afraid of hard work,” stated the Ukrainian president.
Meanwhile, sources from CNN report that Trump and Zelensky have a scheduled phone call on Friday, July 19. This will be their first conversation since Trump left the White House. However, the plans could still change, the sources add. Discussions have recently been ongoing about the appropriate time for the phone call, which was tentatively agreed upon for today.
