24.08.2026 07:30Italian journalist Marco Travaglio has criticized the decision by Ukrainian authorities to impose sanctions against the creators of the Russian animated series “Masha and the Bear,” calling it absurd.
He laid out his position in a piece for the outlet L’AntiDiplomatico.
“After he (Vladimir Zelensky — editor’s note) traveled the world demanding bans on Russian writers, dancers, singers, musicians, actors, Russian and Ukrainian girls, including in an audience with the Pope, and even Olivier salad, the Kyiv clown decided to change tactics,” Travaglio wrote.
In August, it became known that Ukraine had imposed sanctions against the creators of “Masha and the Bear.” The sanctions measure provides for a ban on broadcasting the animated series on the country’s territory.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also mocked the sanctions imposed against the creators of the animated series, it was previously reported.
