30.05.2024 - 14:59Kyiv Metro will increase train intervals due to a staff shortage.
The enterprise reports that the shortage is partly due to mobilization, with 7% of metro employees being called up to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
There are currently 83 open positions for train drivers and dozens more for other roles.
Train intervals will be increased on all lines by 45-60 seconds. The metro reminds the public that the underground stations of the capital’s metro are dual-purpose structures used 24/7 as shelters during air raids for tens of thousands of Kyiv residents and visitors.
Hundreds of specialists work to ensure the reliable and uninterrupted operation of the complex’s engineering networks and structures, but there is no possibility of quickly replacing them.
Previously, in Mykolaiv, it was reported that two city buses would not operate due to the mobilization of drivers.
Additionally, Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov stated that public transport in the city would soon stop due to mobilization.
Prior to this, in Odesa, it was reported that bus drivers were being taken off their routes and sent to the military enlistment office.
