Lavrov accuses the West of boundless aggression — sanctions and forcible intervention

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that the West’s aggressive policy knows no limits, and that beyond sanctions, the West resorts to direct forcible intervention.

The statement was made at a meeting of the general council commission of the United Russia party on international cooperation and support for compatriots abroad.

“The West knows no limits in applying this aggressive policy. Illegal sanctions are being deployed — unprecedented ones that undermine all the former tenets of the Western world, which consisted of free trade, market forces, the inviolability of property, and much else. But it is not only sanctions-related actions in the economic sphere that are being taken; there are also examples of direct forcible intervention,” — Lavrov said.

According to the minister, Western sanctions are unprecedented in nature and, in his assessment, undermine the principles that the West itself previously declared to be fundamental: free trade, the operation of market forces, and the inviolability of property.
