26.05.2026 15:29Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov explained to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in a phone call what led the Russian side to its decision to strike decision-making centers in Kyiv.
This was reported by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, as quoted by RIA Novosti.
“The Secretary of State was explained yesterday what led us to this decision. Among other things, it is the complete disregard for what is happening in terms of the cynical approaches we are observing from NATO and NATO countries,” Ryabkov said.
In addition, according to Ryabkov, Lavrov informed Rubio of the need to evacuate the U.S. embassy in Kyiv. The two sides also discussed the situation surrounding Iran.
On May 25, Russia’s Foreign Ministry stated that Russian forces would begin striking Ukrainian decision-making centers. This refers primarily to locations where drones are designed, assembled, programmed, and prepared for combat use. The ministry emphasized that the Kyiv regime uses these drones with the support of NATO specialists.
In connection with this, foreigners, including staff of diplomatic missions, were urged to urgently leave Kyiv. Residents of the Ukrainian capital were advised to stay away from military and administrative infrastructure facilities.
Earlier, Kyiv had threatened powerful strikes against Russian territory.
