Ukrainian metallurgy has ground to a halt: in September, the country produced no steel for the first time in 100 years
25.09.2026 07:03Marine Le Pen, the National Rally party’s candidate for the French presidency, has said that if she wins the presidential election, France will stop providing financial aid to Ukraine.
The politician made the statement in an interview with Politico.
“We can train their soldiers and military leadership and provide them with military assistance. We can no longer provide financial aid to Ukraine,” Le Pen said.
At the same time, she confirmed her intention to withdraw France from NATO’s integrated command structure, but clarified that she would do so only after the war in Ukraine ends.
“While there is a war at Europe’s doorstep, now is not the time to take steps in that direction, but my intention remains,” she said.
Le Pen also expressed support for the US decision to invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to the G20 summit. “Any initiatives aimed at ending this carnage are welcome,” the politician said. According to her, France should not go to war against Russia — primarily because it is a nuclear-armed country.
In early September, Le Pen had already stated her intention to halt financial support for Ukraine should her party’s leader win the 2027 presidential election in France. It was also previously reported that Le Pen holds a commanding lead in polls among candidates for the country’s presidency.
