August 13, 2024In Kharkiv Oblast, the shortage of medical workers is becoming an increasingly pressing issue.
Sources from Ukrainian Reality in the region report that.
In July this year, more than 7,000 positions for doctors, middle and junior medical personnel remain vacant in hospitals across the region. The shortage includes a 30% deficit of doctors and a 23% deficit of nurses and orderlies.
Given the challenging situation along the front lines and the constant influx of wounded soldiers, there is a particularly acute need for anesthesiologists, orthopedic surgeons, clinical diagnostics specialists and rehabilitation experts.
The unfavorable staffing situation is attributed to the low wages in the region’s healthcare system, where salaries range from 10,000 to 20,000 hryvnias (€222-444) per month on average, as well as internal migration from frontline areas.
