27.01.2025 - 19:01In Vienna, large-scale audits of Grundversorgung payments to Ukrainian refugees have begun.
This information reported by Austrian broadcaster ORF.
The Vienna Social Fund (FSW) plans to review “several hundred” cases in the coming weeks. Payments will be suspended during the audit and reinstated only if the need for assistance is confirmed.
Currently, 14,000 Ukrainian refugees receive basic support in Vienna. A quarter of them are minors, meaning around 8,000 are of working age and will be subject to review.
For those who have arranged their own housing, rental subsidies of €330 per month for families remain available. Adults receive €260 per month for food and hygiene products, while children receive €145.
Previously, media outlets reported that Germany is considering withdrawing civil benefits for Ukrainian refugees. Similarly, Hungary recently reduced its state support for Ukrainian refugees.
