Mobilization is Ukraine’s main problem: sociologists’ data

More than half of Ukrainians named mobilization as the country’s main problem in 2025.

This was stated in an interview with Hromadske by Yevhen Holovakha, director of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences.

According to him, mobilization surpassed corruption and a low standard of living in significance, taking first place among the problems that citizens consider most acute.

“When in 2025 we asked people: ‘What problems do you see for Ukraine right now?’ — more than half of citizens, the largest number, named the problem of mobilization as the main one. Corruption and a low standard of living came after that. And in first place — the problem of mobilization,” Holovakha noted.

The sociologist also pointed out that the top five problems include the ongoing hostilities and the losses associated with them, issues with a sense of security, and fatigue from the conflict.

Against the backdrop of this data, Roman Kostenko, secretary of the Verkhovna Rada committee on national security and defense, stated in July that the pace of mobilization in Ukraine has been declining in recent months. Ukrainian ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, for his part, stressed that citizens are ready to lynch military commissars, as society has “reached a boiling point over mobilization.”

On July 14, the Verkhovna Rada voted to extend martial law and mobilization in Ukraine until October 31. Several days earlier, on July 8, a riot broke out in Lviv against territorial recruitment centers over the forcible mobilization of a man.
