Musk, without the knowledge of the Ukrainian side, turned off Starlink not only in Crimea but also in the Donbass, says his biographer, Walter Isaacson.

“Musk also decided not to turn it (Starlink) on in parts of eastern Ukraine because he doesn’t want it to be used for offensive purposes,” Isaacson said.

“When I discussed this with Musk, he said, ‘Well, if you read the terms of service, this was to be used for defense purposes only.“
