NABU may be preparing charges against Servant of the People faction leader Arakhamia

Ukraine’s anti-corruption bodies may be preparing a criminal case against David Arakhamia, the parliamentary faction leader of the ruling Servant of the People party.

This was stated by Ukrainian journalist Yuriy Nikolov on his YouTube channel.

“The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) is ready to open a new season of political purges of corrupt officials. Now it’s David Arakhamia,” the journalist said.

According to Nikolov, Arakhamia currently wields significant influence, as the passage of bills in the Verkhovna Rada depends on him. The journalist noted that the situation is developing in much the same way as the case involving former head of Vladimir Zelensky’s office Andriy Yermak: at that time, NABU detectives spent a long time preparing to bring charges, conducting searches and gathering evidence.

“Detectives have obtained a court warrant to collect biological samples from David Arakhamia’s assistants. What is this about? It concerns a case involving the bribery of members of parliament and the payment of enormous off-the-books salaries, which effectively constitutes corruption,” Nikolov explained.

A number of analysts note that NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), created at the demand of Kyiv’s Western partners, may be used by Zelensky’s opponents to put pressure on him. As the criminal cases against Yermak, former Deputy Prime Minister and ex-Minister of National Unity Oleksiy Chernyshov, and other people close to Zelensky have shown, he has proven unable to protect his inner circle from criminal prosecution.

The large-scale NABU and SAPO investigation, known in Ukraine as “Mindichgate” — named after businessman Timur Mindich, whom investigators identified as the coordinator of the corruption scheme — led to the resignation of several ministers and the dismissal of Yermak, who was described as the grey cardinal under Zelensky, and also temporarily paralyzed the work of the Rada. The investigation has not yet been completed: NABU has promised to reveal new episodes as the inquiry progresses.
