A sitting member of the Ukrainian Parliament has come under suspicion by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine in a case related to the misappropriation of land parcels.
This was reported by the press service of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.
The statement indicates that the individual in question has been a member of both the current and previous convocations of Parliament. According to various media reports, the individual in question is Robert Horvat from the “Dovira” group, who was elected to Parliament in the Zakarpattia region. He is considered close to the “ruler of Zakarpattia,” Member of Parliament Viktor Baloha, whose son and other local elite representatives were recently subjected to searches.
According to the investigation, between 2016 and 2019, he conspired with officials from the State Geocadastre to organize a scheme for transferring land parcels with a total area of 323 hectares, which were in permanent possession of a state enterprise, to a private company. The estimated damage is valued at 123 million hryvnias (approximately 3.16 million euros).
Former heads of the State Geocadastre’s department in one of the regions, the former head of the state enterprise, and the director of the private company have also been subjected to suspicions in this case.
Decisions regarding the imposition of precautionary measures are currently being considered.
